800 Part 2

I met up with the Culture Company yesterday to discuss the whole project and they're now right behind us in featuring it in publicity and making it a more official part of Liverpool's 800th Birthday celebrations.

Liverpool will be 800 years old on August 28th and I had this late night whiskey induced idea to photograph 800 people on that day. However, the calculator tells me I would only have 1.8 minutes with each person if I worked for the full 24 hours so I've enlisted some other photographers to make it a slightly more sensible group project. And where it goes from there we don't actually know yet but if anybody else out there wants to get involved then feel free to get in touch!

Peter Blake, who needs no introduction, has a career retrospective at The Tate in Liverpool. Don't miss it.  And whilst you're there, make sure you check out Centre Of The Creative Universe : Liverpool and the Avant-Garde which includes some classic photographs by Martin Parr, Dr Vanley Burke and Tom Wood.  Also at Albert Dock is the recently opened Site gallery and their new show is brought to you by the people behind Mercy Magazine. And if you go after August 23rd, you can fit in a visit to the new Slavery Museum.   

Bold Street

Whilst not quite Liverpool's answer to Portobello Road or whatever it is that the Daily Post is trying to say, Bold Street is still cool and a sort of creative hub for the city.  And all this is to celebrated by FACT Centre in a 3 year programme that's kicking off with an exhibition in it's media lounge and various online activities including a blog and it's own Flickr gallery.  So check it out and consider adding your own images.
