Keepin' It Rhyl by Mark McNulty
- These photographs were originally shot for Plastic Rhino magazine and it's 'Keepin' It Rhyl' issue which was a guided walking tour of North Wales' finest resort. The issue of the magazine was originally to be called Twin Towns and was going to be split between Berlin and Rhyl. However, somebody (Tony Crean) came up with the title 'Keepin' It Rhyl' and not being able to decide something as good as that for Berlin, we decided to run with Rhyl throughout the whole magazine. Since then I've been back at different times to photograph the crazy golf course for my 'Rocketships & Windmills' book and to use the place as a backdrop on fashion and bands shoots. The latest news is that Rhyl's notorious West End is due to be regenerated so I'm about to start going back to continue with these photographs and maybe even produce a book at some point in the future. Lucky for some.
This is a photograph of Colin Lowe and it was taken by Mark McNulty as part of the Eighthundred project. The location was Brunswick Place, off the dock road in Bootle.
Colin was my 12th subject of the day and the photograph was taken at 9.30am. Whilst a lot of the day was cloudy and overcast, early morning and evening had great sunshine so there was a great enthusiasm to get as much as possible at these times. The odd thing about this photograph is that Colin was just visiting and the colours of his jacket are a complete coincidence.

Here's a quick shot taken the other day of the exhibition being put together. I've just been down to the visit the site and there's loads of people turning up which is great to see and I'm looking forward to spending a day down there just seeing how people react to the show. However, somebody has commented down there that we haven't shown eight hundred photographs. What we have actually shown is 752 photographs but those 752 prints feature portraits of 800 people! The show runs until next Sunday so please come down and see if you know anyone.

It's nearly over
Well the photography is. I'll blog about this properley when we've hung the show but thanks to everyone who did the photographs, hellped the photographers and thanks to everyone who was photographed. This is my last one of the day.
